DeKalb Tourism Academy Class Descriptions

DeKalb Tourism Assets I and II

Through guest speakers from the various DeKalb tourist assets, you will learn about the history of DeKalb County, as well as become familiar with the county’s arts centers, museums, shops, malls, eateries, colleges, universities, attractions, and parks—including the #1 visited tourist attraction in Georgia—Stone Mountain Park! 

DeKalb Assets I - 8:30am to 3:00pm DeKalb Assets II - 8:30 to 3:00pm

DeKalb Familiarization Tour (FAM)

You will enjoy a full-day motorcoach tour around the DeKalb County.  The FAM Tour will give you the experience of seeing where the tourism assets are located and will give you the chance to do some of the fun things that were discussed in the classes.  You must complete both classes, DeKalb Assets I and II, before you can go on the FAM Tour.

Once you have completed all three, you will become a DeKalb Certified Tourism Assets Specialist and receive a certificate of completion, a specially-designed enameled lapel pin and a three-ring, personalized resource book filled with DeKalb information to be used as a resource.

 

Customer Service Training

This seminar, designed for front-line service personnel and business professionals, introduces inside techniques for dealing with difficult customers, resolving complaints with speed and accuracy, and coping with work-related stress associated with customer service.  In addition, you will also learn the fundamentals of superior customer service and methods to exceed customers’ expectations.  With all this in hand, you will be able to find a positive in every negative and take conflict in stride.
