Mel Bochner: If the Color Changes

Mel Bochner is a conceptual artist who began exhibiting his works in the 1960s. Melding philosophy with painting, drawing, photography, printmaking and sculpture, he has always been interested in investigating the relation between thinking and seeing, and his works in recent years have become more sensual, especially in the use of color. The Carlos Museum has acquired two of these recent works, monoprints from a series based on a quotation from the Austrian philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Remarks on Color. Those, along with several prints and paintings on loan from other institutions, will compose this vivid exhibition.
